The first question in the IELTS Speaking Section is do you work or study? The reason he or she will ask this question is because the examiner needs to know what questions to ask but it’s not necessary to expand on this question. If you have just finished studying and you haven’t started work yet, clearly state that you have finished your studies but you don’t have a job yet. The examiner will then follow on with study related questions.

Work or Study

In the IELTS Speaking Section the examiner may ask the following questions:

Where do you study or work? Why did you choose that subject or job? You might be asked about your first day, the people you work or study with and other questions about your work or study place.

Home

This topic is about where you live so expect questions about your house or apartment. The examiner may also ask about the rooms and how they are decorated or perhaps about how you spend your time away from your house or apartment. You might be asked questions about the people you live with or the area and streets in which you reside.

Home-town

If you get this topic, questions will be asked about where you were born or the places you frequented on a regular basis within your home-town, including buildings, places of recreation, transportation or even the weather.

In conclusion, in the IELTS speaking section, one of these topics will usually be the first, however; there are many other topics that could follow, such as:[checklist icon=”check” iconcolor=”light” circle=”yes”]
