Formal Business Language Part 2

Here is another way to include more formal language in your business presentations/emails or whatever it may be. Firstly, let me ask you a question: which are more formal, nouns, verbs or adjectives? To many it is a strange question but lets look at it in a sentence:

‘The show was cancelled because she was ill.’

This is a sentence of normal formality. It has one noun one verb and one adjective.

‘The cancellation of the show was due to her illness.’

This sentence is a lot more formal as we have changed the verb and the adjective into nouns. The same formula can be done for business language. See if you can change some of your sentences in your emails to include more nouns.
