A Monster or a Mouse?
Ok, so you have your introduction down pat and now it’s time to move on to your main body…. It’s a daunting prospect. Most people consider the main body the most difficult part of a presentation to plan, develop, and deliver for a number of reasons:
There is so much to say! There is a lot you need to convey in your main body and it all needs to be organized and cohesive. It has to have a clear flow and your ideas need to be linked properly. You need to move from one part of your main body to the next seamlessly.
[/li_item][li_item icon=””]The main body is a test of quality! Your material has to have value, it has to be of worth to your audience.
[/li_item][li_item icon=””]You as the presenter have to know your topic and the message you want to convey inside out. As Steve jobs said “People who know what they are talking about don’t need Power Point”
[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Its long! The main body of your presentation has be interesting and engaging. It’s the longest part of your presentation and the part where most people are likely to become distracted and ‘drift off’.
[/li_item][li_item icon=””]You’re presenting in a foreign language! Extra attention needs to be paid to forming your ideas clearly, grammatical accuracy, and using vocabulary properly.
[/li_item][li_item icon=””]Language doesn’t just convey a message, it influences your audience. Choosing the right vocabulary for clarity and impact is crucial.
Because of all of this, most view the main body as some sort of dangerous monster, but it is really just a mouse. It all depends on how you approach it and this begins with your initial planning.
